Effizienzhaus Plus Frankfurt Riedberg

The idea of a single-family house that generates more energy than its inhabitants consume has been tested and implemented since the successes of the Solar Decathlon and the Plus Energy House. This residential scheme in the new neighbourhood of Frankfurt-Riedberg takes its concept one step further with its application to the construction of rental apartment buildings. All electricity, hot water and heating energy needs for the 17 residential units in a four-storey building are covered here by on-site regenerative sources. In addition, electricity for e-Mobile shared cars is supplied.

The apartments are grouped around an access core with a generous staircase, lift and sanitary facilities. Each apartment has a loggia. The monolithic appearance of the building accentuates its special pivotal location within the urban fabric of Riedberg.

The shape of the building, its compactness and orientation ensure that daylight, natural ventilation and solar exposure are exploited to the full.
